Really nice post :-)
If you like giving URIs for things in the music-domain (not only albums/tracks/etc. but also performances, arrangements, musical works, musical instruments etc.) you might want to check RDF and the Music Ontology and also the published dataset using it (for example, DBtune - here is a small depiction putting that back into context).
The whole thing is that I might want to publish some annotations of a Musicbrainz track, which do not necessarily fit within the Musicbrainz schema (such as <a href="http://wiki.musicontology.com/index.php/Structural_annotations_of_%22Can%27t_buy_me_love%22_by_the_Beatles"a structural segmentation, for example)- I can do it by publishing some RDF on my web server, giving URIs for the different entities I am describing, and linking them to related ones ("my URI for this track is the same as the corresponding Musicbrainz URI", for example).
This leads towards a distributed music-related "database".
