listservs

This is just a quick note on listserves. A listserve is a computer program that takes incoming mail and forwards it to a list of recipients. The cor list is a listserve. When you send mail to cor@thfa.org a computer program called mailman sends the message out to everyone on the list.

You have the ability to interact with the listserve by sending e-mail to a special administrative address for the list. To get the administrative address for the list just take the list name and follow it with -request. For example the administrative address for the cor list is cor-request@thfa.org. If you want to do administrative stuff like subscribe to the list or unsubscribe or see who is on it you would send your commands to that address, ampoule cor-request@thfa.org.

sj: irritations

I am going to write briefly because I am tempted not to write at all and go to bed instead. This is a compromise.

I have been thinking on the question of interactions that have irritated me. I have some that come to mind and I want to jot them down along with some basic thoughts. I’ll come back later and go into some of the deeper stuff.

A really big one was last night. Wayne and I were talking about AD&D (he spent a good part of the day laying out a really neat adventure and drawing pictures and stuff.) S asked what hit points were and I started to try and explain it by laying out a simple fight between Brett and I and was going to talk about the rolls and stuff. Wayne butted in and said that I was making it too complicated and that I should stop. S then agreed with him. The whole thing really bothered me. I went off to my room and laid down and listened to music for about 15 minutes after that and tried to calm down some and think about why I was upset.

another calendar list

Hey, ampoule anabolics Brett came back from home with a new calendar and I modified my program and set up a list for it as well. It is the mensa question a day. Lots of little vocab twisters and stuff like that. This one will have two messages a day; one at 8 in the morning is the question and one at 8 at night is the answer.

To subscribe send a message with the subject “subscribe” (no quotes) to amqad-request@honors.tntech.edu

re: Computer Committee

I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be in the committee again this semester, and wanted to find out what our ideas on what to do are at the moment. 🙂

This semester is going to focus more on autonomy. I have 20 hours and two part time jobs so I can’t do a whole lot of adminastriva. Derek is coming on as co-chair, but I’m not going to dump alot of stuff on him either.

Projects…

Zen for 2002/01/14

This seems kinda disheartening. I’m only 23 and I haven’t even managed to get my eyes to be still at all, let alone held it for 50 years. I guess this just means in part that I oughtn’t get too caught up in expecting to figure anything out anytime soon. =)

The mystery does not get clearer
                         by repeating the questions.
Nor is it bought with going to amazing places.
Until you've kept your eyes and your wanting
                            still for fifty years
You don't begin to cross over from confusion.
