n: moved out

Well, I went to D’s soon after I sent that message and after talking to S on the phone I was decided that I wanted to just leave since neither fighting nor not fighting was especially attractive. She was there when I got in and she said she talked some to her mom and she said she could leave her key and I could go get a copy made.

Something that really struck me in talking to her was when she asked me if I thought she was being unreasonable and I realized that in her mind she was being perfectly rational. She doesn’t see her actions as self-centered or unempathic, when she asked I could see she really meant it. Threatening to lock me out of the house I am paying her $100 to stay in because I have to work late and getting pissed because my shower time slowed her down for 10 minutes when I had gotten in past 1:00 for the last 3 nights was not to her an unreasonable position.

dj: D

Ok, here’s the scenario. I am staying with D for 10 days while I am finishing up my work with Miltec. I agreed ahead of time to pay her $100 and mow one of the lawns. I have worked 130 hours in the last 8 days. I am going all the time trying to get everything done in time to leave.

Last night I was working trying to get everything done so that I could leave. I was in the office until 1:45 in the morning and I didn’t make it to her house until after 2:00 which was the same time as the night before. Honestly I was worn out and this morning I slept in until 7:30 (I have been going in at 6:30.)

to jared on vegetarianism

There are nutrients found in meat that you could search a hundred years for among plant species and never find in sufficient quantities to sustain you adequately.

There can’t be nutrients necessary for survival or even healthy functioning found in meats that can’t be found elsewhere or we would have lots of sick/dead vegetarians. =) I would argue that the number of practicing healthy vegetarians is a strong argument against necessity.

I went home for a family reunion a couple weeks ago and while I was there I was talking to my aunt who is a new age, growthish sort of person. She was telling me about an interview that she did with a guy who was of the opinion that the dropping of the atomic bomb brought about a fundamental change in the human psychology. For the first time people knew that a very small group of people could possibly wipe all life off the face of the planet. There was a shift in efficacy and a recognition of the importance of acting responsibly.
